Supplementary Files For: Master's Thesis, Conservation Mitochondrial Genomics of the Gopher Snake on the Northern Channel Islands

Abstract

This folder includes supplementary data files for Alexis Lindsey's master's thesis, Conservation Mitochondrial Genomics of the Gopher Snake on the Northern Channel Islands. The files included are: Supplemental File 1: Pituophis catenifer mitochondrial genome FASTA, the reference genome used to map raw reads in this study. Supplemental File 2: NEXUS alignment of whole mtGenomes, an alignment of mtGenomes used to perform the analyses described in the thesis. Supplemental File 3: NEXUS alignment of partial ND4 sequences, an alignment of partial ND4 sequences from the data generated in the thesis, as well as data from a previous study done in the genus Pituophis (Rodrı́guez-Robles JA, De Jesús-Escobar JM (2000) Molecular Systematics of New World Gopher, Bull, and Pinesnakes (Pituophis: Colubridae), a Transcontinental Species Complex. Mol Phylogenet Evol 14:35–50. https://doi.org/10.1006/mpev.1999.0698). Using whole mitochondrial genomes, we characterize genetic divergence and levels of genetic diversity between two Northern Channel Islands populations (Santa Cruz Island and Santa Rosa Island) and two mainland California relatives, the San Diego gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer annectens) and the Pacific gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer catenifer). These data were collected from DNA extracted from red blood cells.

Collections
