The object of this test was to determine the usefulness to the Air Service of the Odier starter and the desirability of adopting it for service in the field. It may be stated that the Odier starter does not fulfill the requirements of a good portable engine starter because of its unwieldy construction, its small energy storage capacity and the probability of leaks, and the hazard incurred by the operator.en_US
