This document describes the McCook Field wind tunnel, which is used for high-speed investigations of instruments, airfoils, etc. The design is not conventional inasmuch as considerations of speed and efficiency demand departure from the accepted type. The McCook Field wind tunnel departs from the conventional to such an extent that the velocity is brought in to the region of actual flight. The results attained have assisted in our interpretation of the fundamental aerodynamic laws.en_US
