dc.descriptionThis test was the first of a group of tests to determine the "elastic characteristics" of a series of internally braced monoplane wings which have shown no dangerous wing-flutter characteristics and have been proven satisfactory in served, in an effort to establish certain criteria for judging the merit of future designs, with respect to the elastic characteristics of internally braced monoplane wings. The object of these tests was to determine the following: (a) The torsional rigidity and location of the elastic axis of the wing. (b) The natural frequency of vibration of the wing in bending. (c) The natural frequency of vibration of the wing in torsion. (d) The tip deflections of the wing in the inverted and the right-side-up position, due to wing's own weight.en_US
